Introduction to the Department

Department of Global Convergence A Dedicated Undergraduate Program for International Students “Take Your First Step Toward the World with the Department of Global Convergence.” Department of Global Convergence at Gangneung-Wonju National University is an undergraduate program exclusively designed for international students from diverse cultural backgrounds. Our mission is to nurture convergent talents who can meet the demands of a rapidly evolving global society. The School offers three specialized majors—Global Business, General Engineering and Marine Biotechnology. All courses are conducted entirely in English, ensuring that students develop globally competitive expertise applicable anywhere in the world. In the first year, students receive structured education in Korean language and culture to enhance their understanding of Korean society and cultivate intercultural sensitivity and integrative thinking skills. Our curriculum is centered on fostering practical, globally competent leaders who are prepared to excel on the international stage. Department of Global Convergence will serve as a strong foundation for students to realize their aspirations and launch their global careers.

This major aims to develop professionals capable of thriving in the dynamic global marketplace, where countries and cultures increasingly intersect. Students gain a solid grounding in international business theory and learn to navigate diverse economic and cultural environments to achieve successful business outcomes.

This major offers an integrated approach to engineering education, covering the fundamental principles and core technologies of fields such as mechanical, electrical, and chemical engineering. It focuses on cultivating problem-solving skills and creative thinking, equipping students with a solid foundation to become versatile and innovative engineers.

3. Marine Biotechnology

This major integrates marine resources and biotechnology to develop talent for a sustainable marine-based food industry. The curriculum covers the physiology and characteristics of marine organisms, biotechnology, and the development of functional foods. It provides a scientific and practical education that empowers students to explore and harness the potential of marine resources.
